An expensive item has a net ingredient cost of more than £100.
A fee of 2% of the net ingredient cost will be payable on all items over £100, this applies to both drugs and appliances.
If the total cost of the prescription item is equal to or over £100, they're displayed on the Schedule of Payments for pharmacy contractors only.
The basic price does not take into account any broken bulk adjustments.
Earlier payment requests
Claims for an advance payment for a high cost drug may be authorised by the {@ICB@}. They will make this payment using the Local Payment Application.
The prescription is submitted to us for payment as normal and any advance which has been paid is recovered when the payment for the item goes on to the Schedule of Payments.
