For all prescriptions where methadone oral liquid is prescribed, a contractor will be paid:

  • the Single activity fee and CD fee for each interaction they dispense to the patient as specified in the prescriber's instruction
  • an item level fee to recognise the extra work involved in dispensing methadone oral liquid - this fee will only be paid once per prescription

Contractors can claim a fee for each dose packaged above the number of times the medicine was dispensed.

They must claim this fee by endorsing the item 'PD' plus the number of doses separately packaged minus the number of times the medicine has been dispensed to the patient where oral liquid methadone has been supplied.

Further information on fees can be found in Part IIIA of the Drug Tariff.

All other items prescribed on a FP10 MDA

For all other items prescribed on a FP10 MDA such as Buprenorphine, a contractor will receive the Single activity fee and CD fee, if applicable, for each interaction they dispense to the patient as specified in the prescriber's instruction:

  • if the prescriber requests an instalment on the 24th, 27th, 29th, 1st, 4th and 6th, 6 fees will be paid
  • if the prescriber requests an instalment on the 2nd for 700ml in advance and an instalment on the 9th for 700ml in advance, 2 fees would be paid

Contractors will not be paid additional fees for supply in advance or to package in daily dose containers.

Multiple strengths of the same drug or presentation

If 2 strengths of the same drug are prescribed on the same FP10 MDA prescription, a Single Activity fee and a CD fee will be payable per strength, per interaction or instalment.
