To request a copy of a prescription, you must complete the relevant search request form from our website.

If you’re an Integrated Care Board (ICB), hospital or dispenser, you must email the form from a secure domain to prescriptionsearchrequest@nhsbsa.nhs.uk.

Prescription searches can take up to 20 working days to complete.

If the batch has only just been sent for processing, we may be unable to proceed until all processing for that month is complete. This could impact on the time taken to complete the search.

If your request is required urgently, indicate this in the 'Additional information' section of the form. Tell us when the data is required by, and we’ll do all we can to achieve this.

Patient requests

If you want a copy of your prescription because you've received a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN), you must contact the Prescription Exemption Checking Service (PECS)
