EPS tokens are submitted for exemption checking purposes and for a record of the paid declaration made by patients. Patients can sign either the prescribing or dispensing token however only the signed one needs to be submitted.

Although EPS tokens will be scanned they will not be used for reimbursement purposes therefore all endorsement information must be included in the electronic claim message. Any endorsing information entered onto the paper tokens will not be taken into account for reimbursement purposes.

It is important to note that although checks are being carried out on the validity of a patients exemption claim, this will not affect the exemption status you submitted your reimbursement message under. This will remain unchanged and no extra charges will be taken from you regardless of the outcome of the exemption check.
