Formal practice inspections are carried out by NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) Clinical Advisers, usually at the request of a Commissioner. These may be because of concerns raised by patients or practice staff.
In Wales, there's a five yearly rolling programme of routine practice inspections ran in conjunction with Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW).
A practice inspection involves completion of a checklist covering a wide range of areas including:
- premises
- required documentation
- policies
- radiological equipment
- infection control
- health and safety
- clinical environment
You can view this information and a copy of the practice inspection document on the NHS Dental Services website.
