A Personal ID is a random 6 digit number allocated to every qualified NHS dentist.

Your Personal ID will remain the same throughout your NHS career regardless of any breaks in service you may have.

A Personal ID can begin with any digit from one to 9.

After you've registered as a dentist with the General Dental Council (GDC) and have applied to work for a Commissioner, you'll be created as an NHS clinician on the Compass system.

A Personal ID will be generated and issued.

Your Personal ID can be found in Compass:

  1. Select Clinician.
  2. Select Clinician Search.
  3. Select Search - your details will populate on the screen.

Your Personal ID will show in the 'Personal ID' column.
