Which tier rating do I fall into for my pension contributions?

Your tier rating for the current financial year is based on your last confirmed Net Pensionable Earnings (NPE). If you are a new performer, and don't yet have a confirmed figure, the tier rating is based on your current estimated NPE.

If a performer isn't attached to a contract for a full financial year, Compass will pro-rata their earnings up to cover a full 12 month period to calculate their tier rating.

Pension contribution tiers were introduced from 01 April 2008, prior to this date everyone contributed at 6% regardless of their earnings.
Contribution tiers are updated on an annual basis. The current, and previous, year's tier ratings are available on the NHS Pensions Website.
