If your child is in registered childcare you can claim 85% of your actual childcare costs up to a maximum amount.

For all students the amount awarded will depend on your circumstances and the income available to you and your family. Not all students who apply for Childcare Allowance will be entitled to receive it.

The current maximum amount payable can be found on our website.

If you're a new or non-final year continuing student you can claim childcare costs for the full 52 weeks of your academic year including holidays.

If you're in your final year of study you can claim childcare costs from the first day of your academic year until the term end date.

You may also claim for retainer childcare costs if they are part of your contract with the provider and are within the dates of your academic year. These costs must be included as part of your weekly amounts you declare on the childcare application.

If your childcare provider charges you separately for the cost of meals, these can also be included in your overall weekly costs. We'll only pay the maximum amount as noted on our website.

Please remember to keep your receipts for all childcare costs you pay.
