Your basic award will be reassessed from the date of your separation.

Your basic award will be an aggregate amount based on the award before your change in circumstances including the spouse or partner contribution and the new entitlement with no spouse or partner contribution from date of separation to the end of the academic year.

If you cannot demonstrate you're financially independent of your former spouse or partner, your bursary will still be income assessed using their income.

If you're in receipt of Dependants Allowance or Childcare Allowance (CCA), these additional allowances must be reassessed. You may be entitled to a higher amount if you're not already receiving the maximum rates.

If you're still living with your former spouse or partner, you must provide a legal agreement confirming you're the parent mainly responsible for the financial upkeep of any children as they'll still be residing with both parents.

Details of any maintenance payments you receive from your former spouse or partner must be declared and taken into account in the reassessment of any entitlement.

If you were claiming Dependants Allowance for your partner only, this will be stopped from the date of separation.
