If you're repeating an NHS funded year, you're eligible for repeat funding including tuition fees.
Repeat study years you took before you were eligible to apply for a bursary are not counted towards the required years study.
If you're repeating an NHS funded year, you may be considered for extended funding. You're allowed one period of repeat funding up to a maximum of 12 months throughout the duration of a course.
Any further repeat study over and above the maximum 12 months must be self-funded.
To be considered for an extension or repeat of the tuition fees contribution, your course dates must include the 1 December in the applicable academic year.
You must select you're repeating a year when completing your NHS Bursary application.
We'll process your completed application when we receive confirmation of your extension from your university.
Repeating on a part-time basis
You can continue to receive your NHS Bursary if this has been agreed by your university and Health Education England (HEE) Local Office.
There must be sufficient bursary funding available for us to continue your payments during the period in question.
There's a limit to the amount of bursary we can administer to one student for the duration of their course. This is subject to a maximum of 12 additional months bursary funding in all cases.
If you're attending part-time to repeat one or multiple modules, your bursary will be paid as a pro rata of your full-time entitlement if it's been agreed by HEE.
Funding is not automatically approved for repeat periods. This must be discussed with your university and HEE.
