If you meet all eligibility criteria and declare all income details requested in your application, we can assess you for the basic award.

Your possible basic award entitlement is based on the university you attend and if you live in the parental home.

You may also be awarded an extra weeks allowance if your term dates consist of more than 30 eligible study weeks.

If your term dates consist of 45 eligible study weeks or more, you'll be assessed as if your term dates totalled 52 weeks which is an extra 22 weeks.

Once your possible entitlement has been calculated, depending on your circumstances, we'll deduct a parental or partner contribution amount to calculate your actual award.

The current maximum rates for full-time students are up to:

  • £2,251 plus £57 for each additional eligible study week for Parental Home rate
  • £2,696 plus £86 for each additional eligible study week for Elsewhere Lodgings rate which is if you do not live in the parental home and do not attend a London university
  • £3,255 plus £110 for each additional eligible study week for London Lodgings rate which is if you do not live in the parental home and attend a London university

  • 5 year course duration - paid at 60% of the full-time rate
