If you're allocated a capped bursary place

If eligible for a bursary your full award will be split into three instalments and paid each term.

If you're a postgraduate student and awarded any of the income assessed elements, they'll usually be paid at the same time as part of your termly payments (excluding Childcare Allowance).

If your award was assessed before you started your academic year, your first instalment will be paid within 10 working days of us receiving both confirmation of your course attendance and that you've been allocated a capped bursary place.

If your award was assessed after you started your academic year, your first instalment will be paid within 10 working days of the date on your Notification of Award (NOA), assuming we have already received both confirmation of your course attendance and that you've been allocated a capped bursary place.

If you're a postgraduate course student your third instalment may be held until we receive and process evidence from you of the estimated income you've declared on your application.

Your Notification of Award (NOA) will advise you of this and what evidence we require (if applicable).

Childcare Allowance (CCA)

Your very first CCA instalment will be paid along with your first main bursary payment if they were applied for and assessed at the same time.

If not, this will generally be paid within 10 working days of the CCA assessment assuming we've already received both confirmation of your course attendance and allocated bursary place from your university / college.

Any future CCA instalments will generally be paid slightly later than your main bursary payment as we need to verify the previous term costs first.

This is done by asking you to fill in a Childcare Reconciliation form.

Once we've received and processed confirmation of your costs from your provider, your next CCA term payment will be made within 10 working days.

However, if your estimated childcare costs in the previous term exceeded your actual costs by £500 or more all future payments of CCA will be withheld until you've submitted a new application showing revised estimated costs for remaining terms.

If you're not allocated a capped bursary place

If eligible for Placement Travel Allowance (PTA) it will be paid in one instalment for the whole academic year, rather than termly.

If your award was assessed before you started your academic year, it will be paid within 10 working days of us receiving confirmation of your course attendance from your University.

If you have applied after you started your course your first instalment will be paid within 10 working days of the date on your Notification of Award (NOA).
