Centrally supplied vaccines are provided free of charge to a practice by the central supply as part of the Childhood Immunisation Programme.

The vaccines include:

  • Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG)
  • DTaP/IPV/HiB (Infanrix-IPV+Hiband, Pediacel)
  • dTaP/IPV low dose (Repevax)
  • DTaP/IPV (Infanrix/IPV)
  • Hib/MenC (Menitorix)
  • HPV Type 16, 18 (Cervarix)
  • Influenza H1N1 (Pandemrix)
  • Meningococcal C Conjugate (Meningitec, Menjugate and Neis Vac-C)
  • MMR (M-M-P II, M-M-RVAXPRO, Priorix)
  • PCV- Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (Prevenar, Prevenar 13, Synflorix)
  • Tuberculin Purified Protein Derivative (PPD RT 23 SSI 20,  PPD RT 23 SSI 100)

A practice must not claim for the cost of these vaccines. They'll not receive a fee for administering the vaccine to the patient.

If the practice is unable to give the vaccine out of the central supply, it can be ordered on an FP10 prescription which can be dispensed at a pharmacy and be brought back to the practice for administration.

The patient does not incur any charges for receiving one of these vaccines, unless it's dispensed in a pharmacy. The patient would be subject to normal prescription charges unless they fall into one of the exemption categories.

Most of the vaccines can be obtained from specific wholesalers who'll supply the vaccine for free to the practice on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care.
