When applying for an NHS Bursary in your first year, you may be asked to upload ID.

We'll accept a:

  • birth certificate
  • passport
  • driving licence or provisional licence - we only need the photo card
  • National Identity Card for non UK nationals - this can be provided instead of a passport or photo card driving licence

If you cannot provide any of these, we can accept a Biometric Residence Card.

If you've got a duplicate birth certificate from the Registrar Office, this will be classed as an original document.

We cannot accept expired ID.

If you’re asked for ID in the following years, a covering letter can be uploaded to your NHS Bursary application if the previous ID on the record is still valid.

If you’re asked to provide photo ID but you do not have any, you must upload 3 of the following:

  • recent utility bills - mobile phone bills are not accepted
  • a tenancy agreement
  • your NHS medical card
  • a recent council tax bill
  • a Student Finance letter from a Local Authority or Student Finance

If you do not have any of these, upload any official documents with your current name and address on.

You must upload a covering letter explaining why you cannot provide a passport or driving licence.

If you’re a refugee, you must upload your most recent Home Office letter and UK travel document issued by the UK Border Agency.

Failure to provide any of the relevant evidence will result in the assessment of your application being delayed.
