Update the personal details on your NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate by contacting HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) directly.

The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) issues certificates on behalf of HMRC using the information they hold.

Name change

A new certificate will be sent to you before the end of the following month.

You can show your HMRC Tax Credit award notice as evidence of your entitlement until your new certificate arrives.

Address change

A new certificate will not be sent to you.

Your records will be updated and you can continue to use your existing certificate.

Tax Credits ending April 2025

Tax Credits are being replaced by Universal Credit from April 2025. Tax Credit claimants will receive a Migration Notice letter from The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) about moving onto Universal Credit.
