If original documents are requested, we cannot accept copies unless the copy has been certified by a third-party in a professional capacity.
We must be able to identify the third-party.
We cannot accept copies if the person certifying the document is either:
- related to the applicant
- in a relationship with the applicant
- lives at the same address
To certify the copy, they must:
- see the original
- write 'Certified to be a true copy of the original seen by me'
- sign and date it
- print their name under the signature
- add their occupation, address, and telephone number
Lasting Power of Attorney (LPOA)
For LPOAs, the donor can certify a copy if they’re able to make their own decisions.
