VSO is a voluntary charity. Any scheme member going to work abroad for VSO or for the British Red Cross can apply to remain in the NHS Pension Scheme.
Members must apply within 3 months of starting their new job. They must have contributed to the scheme at some time during the previous 12 months.
In certain circumstances we may apply discretion to extend the 3 month time limit for applying. Each case will be judged on it’s individual circumstances.
Overseas employment in developing or war-torn countries
Continued scheme membership will be considered for any overseas employments in developing or war-torn countries.
