Change application
If you want to change your payable date and have sent an AW8 retirement benefits claim form, you must contact your employer.
Your employer can make the changes in Pensions Online (POL). They must email nhsbsa.pensionsemployers@nhsbsa.nhs.uk to confirm the requested change.
If your employer cannot make the changes in POL, they must confirm this in the email.
If you’ve sent an AW8P deferred benefits claim form, you must request to change your payable date in writing by post or email.
Cancel application
You can cancel your application to retire if either:
- your award payable date has not passed
- your award payable date has passed but your award has not been completed.
To cancel your application, you must contact NHS pensions.
If you’re claiming deferred benefits and have reached your Normal Pension Age (NPA), we cannot cancel the application once your completed form has been received. This is because your benefits are payable from this point.
