People of Northern Ireland who are Irish citizens living in the UK will not usually be eligible for a UK issued EHIC.
This is because they’re unlikely to have exercised their free movement rights because they did not rely on their EU citizenship in order to be resident in the UK.
If you’re resident in the UK, you may be eligible for a UK Global Health Insurance Card (UK GHIC).
Apply for a new UK GHIC or UK EHIC.
If you live in Ireland and believe you’re eligible for a UK EHIC, you cannot currently apply online and must contact NHS Overseas Healthcare Services to make your application.
