Applicant - Why does the job application ask if I've been a member of the Armed Forces?

If you've served in the Armed Forces, you'll be asked if you want to apply for the 'Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS)'.

The employer will offer you an interview if you meet their minimum criteria and you confirmed you wanted to apply for the scheme.
