You must give references covering your last 3 years of:

  • work
  • education
  • training

If you’ve only worked in the NHS for the last 3 years, you only need to give one reference.

If you've been unemployed or have gaps in your employment, you must give contact details for a person of standing who knows you.

More information about persons of standing are available in the NHS Jobs service when providing references.

The employer may ask you for more referees if they need more information.

Further support and user guides are available on our website.
