The NHS Pension Scheme member groups we're currently inviting to register for My NHS Pension are:
- non- Electronic Staff Record (ESR) active members
- non-ESR deferred members
- pensioners, except for child dependents
- active ESR members from certain regions
The current regions for active ESR members who can register are:
- Wales
- East of England
- South East
- South West
- North East and Yorkshire
If you're not in one of these member groups, we’ll contact you once you’re able to register.
ESR users can still access their Total Reward Statement (TRS) on ESR.
Registering for first time use
You’ll be sent a unique registration code and personal ID code by letter or email.
If you've not received the email from My NHS Pension, check your junk or spam folders. It can take up to 24 hours for you to receive any emails.
You must:
- Go to the My NHS Pension website.
- Select 'Sign in'.
- View and accept the terms and conditions.
- Select 'Register'.
- Enter your registration information.
- Enter all details requested onscreen.
- Create a username and password - if you're having problems, check the criteria for creating a username and password.
- Enter your email address - we recommend using your personal email address as it will be used for account recovery.
- Create security questions.
- Verify your email - if you do not verify your email, you’ll not be able to use any of the self service functions.
Registration and personal ID codes
The registration and personal ID codes uses a mixture of numbers and letters.
The letters are case sensitive. Make sure the letters 'L', 'I' and 'O' and numbers '1' and '0' are entered correctly. Your invitation letter or email will have a phonetic breakdown.
Email address
Your email address will not be accepted if it includes any of the following special characters:
! ” $ & ’ * ; : < = > [ \ ] ^ ` { | } ~
You must use an alternative personal email address that does not include a special character.
If you do not have an alternative email address to use, email nhsbsa.mynhspension@nhsbsa.nhs.uk.
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
When you first log in, you must set up 2FA. Select your preferred method and follow the on-screen instructions.
Other pension records
You'll have a separate pension record if you also have:
- a Pension Credit record from a divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership
- an adult dependant’s pension
If you have more than one record, email nhsbsa.mynhspension@nhsbsa.nhs.uk with the SD number for that record. We’ll send you registration details for your other record.
You’ll have separate logins for each account.
