The OMMT is a course that supports Adult Social Care (ASC) staff to make sure they have the right knowledge and skills to provide safe and informed care.
ASC organisations registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) are required under the Health and Care Act 2022 to make sure that their staff receive specific training on learning disability and autism appropriate to their role. The OMMT is the governments preferred training for this.
There are 2 types of OMMT:
- Tier 1 must be completed by everyone
- Tier 2 must be completed by those who specialise in autism care
Both tiers can be delivered internally or externally. The amount an organisation can claim back through the ASC-LDSS depends on the tier of training and how it was delivered.
Tier 1
- the internal limit is £12.50
- the external limit is £25.00
Tier 2
- the internal limit is £50.00
- the external limit is £90.00
Organisations claiming for internally delivered Tier 2 OMMT can also claim travel and associated costs which are included in the amount that the organisation is reimbursed, up to the relevant limit.
Claims
OMMT claims has its own funding separate to other ASC-LDSS claims. There is a funding cap per child organisation of £25,000 for claims.
OMMT claims must be claimed at 100%.
OMMT claims in the 2025/26 financial year do not have to be submitted within 3 months of completion but must be submitted before 21 March 2026. Claims received between 21 March 2026 and 5 April 2026 will be only be accepted in exceptional circumstances.
OMMT claims submitted after 5 April 2026 must be submitted within 3 months of completion.
Repeat courses will not be reimbursed.
