A TDAE AP is a payment made to students to help with the up-front costs of attending placements. This could include up to a:

To apply for a TDAE AP, you must:

  • have an approved Training Grant (TG) application
  • have at least one approved TDAE application in any academic year for the Advance Payment type you're requesting
  • not be in the final term of your final year of study

You can apply using the ‘TDAE Advanced Payment’ tile on the main page of your NHS Learning Support Fund (LSF) account.

If approved, the amount you requested will be added to the ‘One off payments’ section of your ‘Payments’ tab. It’ll be paid to you within 10 working days.

You must still submit your TDAE claim once you’ve completed your placement. We’ll deduct any TDAE claims from the TDAE AP balance when processed.

You can apply for another advance payment once your current balance is £50 or less.

Any remaining balance will be deducted from your final term payment in your final year. If you withdraw from study before submitting a TDAE claim, your TDAE AP will be raised as an overpayment.

TDAE only courses

Students studying undergraduate pharmacy or pre-registration healthcare sciences courses are eligible to claim TDAE through NHS LSF.

If you’re studying one of these courses, you’re not eligible to apply for TDAE AP.
