A PPC refund will be rejected if the PPC holder:

  • was not exempt
  • moves from England to another country and no longer needs their PPC
  • no longer needs as many prescriptions
  • is sent to prison
  • dies and the estate does not claim the refund within 24 months
  • is in hospital when the certificate expires and does not claim a refund within 3 months of the expiry date
  • becomes exempt and does not claim a refund within 3 months

This list is not exhaustive, a PPC refund can be rejected for other reasons.
